Feedback - Week #2 [Idea]
Feedback
I got feedback from two people regarding the reference board, thumbnail sketches and the character/vehicle overview presented to them (at various stages in the development process).
Oana: Please try to think of the character motivation - focus on their most important trait. Also, remember its gonna be stylised and a little over the top by nature - don’t try to make it realistic.
David: Try to think about what colour palette you might use. Cause it's pretty vague right now, I think colours are important for creating the right vibes.
Addressing The Feedback:
- After some discussion my partner and I settled on a much more solid character premise, focusing on their mentality and reasons for being the way they are, and taking certain actions.
- I revisited the reference board and introduced more varied and stylised reference to better inform our design ideas. I think that the silhouette sketches we currently have will allow for some interesting proportions and stylised features (none of it looks too realistic).
- Some colour reference was included - especially the purple and neon colours from Evangelion. Dark greys and blacks will also work well here, and they can contrast will little splashes of colours from the variety of things that the racer has accumalated. The vehicle will reflect the costume design of the character too, with things welded to, taped or hung from various components. Environmental storytelling about the places that the racer has visiited, I suppose.
