Technical Notes - Week #3 (Adobe Firefly + GIF)

Technical Notes - Week #3

We covered some basic AI stuff in the workshop A, specifically involving AI image generation using programs such as Adobe Firefly. It was interesting to experiment with prompts and provide different references. At first it was very innacurate to what I desired but I found providing a reference style and getting more specific helped. You can see some of the generated images here (right page):

We did some animation work in Workshop B, and had to research ourselves the (relatively simple) process of making a GIF from paper animation. After scanning the frames into PhotoShop I used the rectangle select to isolate each frame and split them into layers. I then overlayed them and rotated them accordingly to align and reduced the canvas size to that dimension. After that, I could reimport those frames as a sequence and finally export a GIF.

You can see the individual frames on paper pictured below:

I used the curves tool on the adjustment layer to correct the black / white values of the frames so they didn't look washed out.

And finally, the way I used layer masking as an initially nondestructive way to isolate frames (I found this through a tutorial)
