Sketchbook Week #10 - Natural Elements
Sketchbook W10 - Natural Elements
This week we drew a holy trio of rocks, trees and clouds. First, we observed a rock on our desk and drew it from a few angles (which I struggled with in terms of showing any depth beyond the basic 2D shape), and then we drew our ideas of a rock, tree, and cloud just from our minds (schemers). Finally, we looked at image reference and drew based on those for the final three drawings. It was an interesting exercise to explore biases and to also see how everyday/often seen objects can be very hard to recall/clarify, because we don't tend to focus or fixate on the details and remember them. However, it's a skill that is very trainable! If you drew 6 rocks every day, you could become a master at it within months or years! Observing is important.
