Sketch #2 - Fundamental Shapes

Image
SKETCH #2 The three fundamental shapes: the square, triangle and circle! I added a little depth to them for this one! I am subconsciously reminded of Squid Game.   In this week's lecture we discussed how these simple shapes form the foundations of most character design, so I look forward to trying to use these as a starting point for some future drawings or even 3D models potentially - it seems like a cool approach.

Watering Can - Household Item Design

Image
WATERING CAN - HOUSEHOLD ITEM DESIGN This watering can in our laundry is "mundane" and very simple in its design, but I like it for the colour choice, the extremely textured and weathered look of the painted area, and the very smooth edges (all of the edges appear quite bevelled and flow/sink into each other in a way that doesn't look visually jarring at all). Gestalt's principle of continuity is partially present here in that way I suppose! For fun, I went into Blender and spent a couple of hours creating a simple model of this watering can and texturing it. I hope I got across the smoothness in my recreation! The final result is a bit too high-poly for a game asset but it could be decent as a prop in a CG film or something! The most difficult part was the tube, which I created to some degree of success using a bezier curve (however I think the joint is a little awkward). Thank you for reading this short blog post! - Ethan (or Yisen)
